TwInn4MicroUp Strengthens Intellectual Property Expertise Through EU Trademarks and Designs Workshop
A representative of the Laboratory for Eco-biotechnology and Drug Development participated in the online workshop “EU Trademarks and Designs – Service Beneficiaries Only“, held on 23 June 2026. The event was organized as part of the support services available to project beneficiaries seeking to strengthen their knowledge of intellectual property (IP) protection and innovation management. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the European Union framework for trademark and industrial design protection. Participants learned about the scope and duration of trademark rights, requirements for trademark registration, design protection procedures, associated timelines and costs, and practical strategies for protecting intellectual assets. The programme also emphasized the importance of conducting prior rights searches, ensuring trademark distinctiveness, and understanding the territorial nature of intellectual property protection. In addition, the workshop introduced participants to available European support instruments, including the SME Fund, which provides financial assistance for intellectual property registration and related services. Practical examples illustrated how trademarks, industrial designs, and patents can complement one another in protecting innovations and strengthening their market potential. For the TwInn4MicroUp project, participation in this training contributes to strengthening capacity in innovation management and intellectual property protection. The knowledge gained will support future activities related to the dissemination, exploitation, and commercialization of research results, while helping safeguard intellectual assets developed through project activities.
