TwInn4MicroUp Participates in the Irish Polymer Group Annual Polymer Conference 2026
On 23 April 2026, the Irish Polymer Group (IPG) hosted its Annual Polymer Conference at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone, Ireland. Organised in collaboration with Polymer Technology Ireland and First Polymer Training Skillnet, the event welcomed approximately 250 participants, including researchers, engineers, manufacturers, technology providers, and academic experts from across Ireland and abroad.
The conference served as an important platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and collaboration within the polymer sector. The programme featured keynote presentations, technical talks, research presentations, exhibitions, and networking sessions addressing a wide range of topics, including sustainable materials, recycling technologies, advanced polymer processing, automation, Industry 4.0, medical-grade plastics, and innovation in manufacturing and materials science.
A strong emphasis was placed on sustainability and circular economy approaches within the plastics and polymer industries, reflecting the sector’s growing focus on resource efficiency, recycling, and environmentally responsible innovation.
The conference also maintained a significant academic and research dimension, with universities and research centres presenting applied research projects and engaging with companies and stakeholders to explore future collaboration opportunities and support innovation across the industry.
Representing the TUS TwInn4MicroUp team, Mrs. Zeliha Ece Özçelik and Mr. Necdet Özçelik attended the conference as participants. Their attendance supported the dissemination activities of the TwInn4MicroUp project and provided valuable opportunities to establish new collaborations, exchange expertise, and strengthen connections with researchers, industry representatives, and innovation stakeholders.
Participation in the IPG Annual Polymer Conference 2026 further contributed to the project’s engagement with the broader polymer and materials community and reinforced the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in advancing sustainable and innovative solutions.
