March 15, 2026

On March 2, 2026, the University of Novi Sad’s Faculty of Sciences hosted the 13th Memorial Scientific Conference “Docent Dr Milena Dalmacija”. Organized by the Foundation “Docent Dr Milena Dalmacija,” this annual event served as a vital regional platform, gathering prominent researchers, academics, and students. Attendees converged to exchange knowledge, share recent advancements, and foster institutional collaboration across environmental science, biotechnology, and related scientific disciplines. A key highlight of the program was an invited lecture delivered by Prof. Jasmina Nikodinović-Runić from the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE). Titled “From Waste to Biomaterials and Bioactive Compounds Using Microorganisms,” the presentation put a spotlight on the innovative approaches being developed to valorize waste through microbial processes. By focusing on the creation of eco-friendly materials and high-value bioactive products, the lecture underscored the essential role of microbial biotechnology in driving circular economy solutions. During her address, Prof. Nikodinović-Runić officially introduced the TwInn4MicroUp project, outlining its core objectives, ongoing activities, and long-term vision for sustainable innovation. Supported by IMGGE colleague Dr. Dusan Milivojevic, who also attended the conference, the participation successfully elevated the project’s visibility within the regional scientific community. The event opened valuable avenues for networking, paving the way for future collaborative partnerships with researchers dedicated to environmental and biotechnological advancements.
