Two Years of EULiST: Opportunities and Prospects for the NTUA Community
On Monday, 8 December 2025, NTUA hosted the institutional event “European University EULiST: Opportunities and Perspectives for the NTUA Community” at the Events Hall of the Administration Building, NTUA Zografou Campus. The event marked the second anniversary of the European Universities Alliance EULiST (European Universities Linking Society and Technology), a four-year project with a total budget of €14.6 million, in which NTUA plays a key role.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Prof. Athanasios Zisis, Vice-Rector of NTUA and Co-Chair of the EULiST Management Board. Keynote interventions were delivered by representatives from established European University Alliances in their second funding cycle, including CIVIS (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), EU-CONEXUS (Agricultural University of Athens), and INVEST (University of Thessaly).
NTUA’s contributions to EULiST were presented by the project’s Scientific Coordinators. Prof. Emerita Katerina Adam highlighted continuity, excellence, and the exchange of best practices, focusing on measurable objectives for a sustainable and inclusive campus. Prof. Sotirios Karellas showcased progress in Research and Innovation (WP4), emphasizing NTUA’s leadership in shaping a common research strategy within EULiST and initiatives such as “Fridays for Research” and the “EULiST Global Conference”, designed to advance cutting-edge research and societal impact.
A dynamic round-table discussion followed, exploring opportunities and challenges for the NTUA community within EULiST. Contributions included:

Prof. Effie Dimopoulou, Coordinator of the EULiST Digital Campus, on the role of the Digital Campus in multiplying teaching and learning opportunities.

Dr. Efstratios Nikolaivits, who presented the benefits for early-career researchers, emphasizing networking, interdisciplinarity, and synergies with European research initiatives such as TwInn4MicroUp.

Ms. Antonia Lampropoulou, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations and EU, addressing administrative coordination and process optimization.

Ms. Evilia Chatziparaskevaidou, undergraduate student and EULiST NTUA Student Team member, sharing experiences of student governance and mobility, including student conferences and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).
The event attracted over 120 participants, including academic staff, researchers, administrative personnel, and students from all NTUA schools. Distinguished attendees included Prof. Andreas Bountouvis, former Rector and founding member of EULiST; Dr. Maria Vardaki, Executive Director of NTUA; and Mr. Ioannis Katsanevakis, representing the General Secretariat for Higher Education of the Ministry of Education.
Dr. Efstratios Nikolaivits delivered a presentation titled “How does EULiST concern a ‘new’ researcher”, highlighting the benefits of European University Alliances for early-career researchers. His talk emphasized the opportunities for networking, interdisciplinary collaboration, mobility, and participation in European research ecosystems, as well as synergies with EU-funded initiatives, including TwInn4MicroUp.
The event concluded as a highly successful occasion, reaffirming EULiST’s strategic role in fostering internationalization, research excellence, and institutional capacity building. Through active participation and targeted contributions, the event strengthened synergies between EULiST and other EU-funded initiatives, enhancing both scientific and administrative competencies at NTUA.
